Jacobs Doue Egberts to merge with Peet's Coffee

Emailed on December 20th 2019 in The Friday Forward

JAB Holding plans to merge Dutch coffee giant Jacobs Doue Egberts with California-based Peet’s Coffee, and then IPO the combined company in 2020.

  • This could create the world’s largest publicly-traded coffee roaster. Well, at least in terms of a dedicated company, as its sales remain behind market leader Nestlé.

  • The IPO could raise upwards of €3 billion in Amsterdam or elsewhere in Europe, per the FT.

“Although coffee bean prices paid to farmers remain depressed because of oversupply, business is booming for companies that roast and package coffee.” — Leila Abboud & Arash Massoudi, FT
