How COVID-19 is changing analytics

Dresner Advisory Services’ published interim findings from their 2020 COVID-19 Impact Survey this week, providing a glimpse into business’ intentions regarding analytics and BI spending.

Here are the highlights:

  • 49% of enterprises are either launching new analytics and BI projects or moving forward without delay on already planned projects.

  • There’s been a 68% increase in enterprises who say cloud computing is critical to their operations between February to April of this year alone.

  • BI budgets have continued to stabilize over the last three months, countering the overall trend of IT budget cuts across all organizations globally.

  • Self-service BI’s importance grew from 25% in February to 34% in April, reflecting enterprises’ needs for providing analytics users enhanced capacities to do their reporting and analytics.

  • 30% of enterprise leaders consider collaborative BI critical to ongoing business operations given the distributed nature of their teams today.
