Be systematic about your execution

Let's say you receive aid from one or both of these programs above, let's say you don't: either way, the next few months are all about execution. Fortunately, we have a few helpful pieces of content on exactly that.

  1. Over the next few months your goal as an executive is to build and maintain a "Commitment Culture" - a culture where management focuses on building trust and attachment to the company. You don’t necessarily need the most intelligent, highest achieving individuals on a team, but the ones who fit the company vision and the existing values. Hire/maintain empathetic people who also believe in your purpose and mission.

  2. Clearly articulate your company vision: and this may have changed. We use the EOS framework to establish our vision and work backwards to key metrics each team member should focus on to accomplish that.

  3. Set clear quarterly goals: The EOS model calls these "Rocks." Rocks are different from other objective frameworks in that they’re specific, attainable that quarter, and measurable. The beauty of quarterly goals is that 90 days is the longest most humans can focus on specific issues without losing interest.

  4. Be deliberate about cultural fit: Chances are, you're looking at running with a lean team. Make sure you analyze your org chart to make sure everyone is a cultural fit. Here's how.

  5. Everyone owns a metric: In the EOS system, the majority of data resides in scorecards. Scorecards consist of 5 to 15 performance factors that, if met, will lead to accomplishing quarterly rocks. Scorecards are reviewed each week in what EOS calls an “L10 Meeting.”

  6. Confront and solve issues every week: Is someone getting off track with their metrics? Quarterly goal off track? Someone feeling overwhelmed? These are all issues. The process for solving issues within the weekly meeting is called IDS, which stands for Identify, Discuss, Solve. With all issues listed out, the team votes to choose three to discuss and solve that week.
