Most coverage of Ross Perot’s death this week focused, understandably, on his presidential runs in 1992 and 1996. But he also was one of the tech industry’s most successful serial entrepreneurs:

First he founded Electronic Data Systems, which was sold for $2.5 billion to GM in 1984. $1 in 1984 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $2.42 in 2018.

Then he founded Perot Systems. a rival to EDS, which Dell bought in 2009 for $3.9 billion.
